"But even more strange mucoid creatures live in the house, in the old wood. One of the strangest creatures of nature lurking on the surface of hyacinth bulbs. This slime molds (myxomycetes). Its length is only a few millimeters. It's like a drop and slug-like. It crawls along the surface at a speed of 1 centimeter per hour. It moves its way in the search for bacteria because they were fed. We see not a single organism but the union hundreds of thousands of cells similar to the amoeba. These tiny organisms come together when food supplies around the end. Thousands of these cells are connected to form a drop that looks like mucus. And it highlights the mucus when it moves. This can crawl for days and weeks in search of food.
Outside on the wet wood slime molds (myxomycetes) are much larger. These networks can stretch to several feet. It moves and pulsates because it eats the surrounding bacteria. Then suddenly a flexible joint changes again. Slime molds (myxomycetes) makes a lot of mushroom-shaped appendages. Top of this are the spore capsules. We know many kinds of slime molds (myxomycetes) and each of them has a specific form of these capsules. When it ripens and then from that formed millions of spores. These spores spread by rain and insects. From this form cells similar to amoebas. And this is the beginning of a new life cycle."
